THE POWER OF UNREASONABLE COLLEGE STUDENTS

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Recently I have read a book titled “The Power of Unreasonable People” by John Elkington and Pamela Hartigan, the veteran authors in the field of Social Entrepreneurship.  The first time I put my eyes on the cover of the book I was so confused because I have never thought of me crediting the power of unreasonableness.  One of the things they share about unreasonable people is that"They are Insanely Ambitious".  Do you know anyone in your life who is insanely ambitious?  I know Dr. Bruce Main, the Founder of Urban Promise Ministries.  After graduating from Azusa Pacific University, he decided to move to Camden, one of the poorest and most dangerous cities in the United States of America.  He has one goal in life; to be part of the solution to the troubled world.  Today, the work of Urban Promise has transformed the lives of thousands of children and youth all over the world.  Bruce is one of the unreasonable people I have known in my life.

Today, I would like to share with you the power of unreasonable college students in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world.  After being rescued by a local orphanage in 2007, I was privileged to go back to high school and later on to college. In 2014, I decided to do something to young men and women who were struggling to finish high school due to a lack of tuition.  I formed a team of unreasonable college students from African Bible College and Bunda College of Agriculture.  Our vision was to provide educational opportunities to potential needy students in local schools.  People laughed at us.  "Do you even know what you are getting into?"  One of the well-respected people in my circle asked me.  But do you know what?  Without a financial basis; without being recognized by the government and without expecting any rewards in the end; this team of unreasonable college students has transformed the lives of many students as of today.  One is in medical school studying Pharmacy; one right now is applying for college while many more are striving in different high schools in Malawi.  This is the power of unreasonable college students who see no failure but possible success in the lives of others.

It is this mentality of unreasonableness that my wife and I believe that in 5 months we will be able to raise enough funding to continue helping children in the poorest villages in Malawi.  Would you consider writing a better story in the life of a child in Malawi through LoveDriven Ministries?  You can join us by helping with a gift of $25, $50, $75, $100 or a gift of any size.

Thank you, so much in advance for your help.

Peace,

Ishmael Adam
